65:24 is a panoramic photographic aspect ratio, based roughly on the proportions of two 35mm exposures side by side. The aspect ratio is suited particularly well for communicating the subtle drama of landscapes or moments of refelction with a cinematic flair. It is suited extremely poorly for viewing on mobile phones. That tension has made an unpopular photo format even more unpopular in the last decade, despite its merits for storytelling.
This particular ratio of length:width was made famous by the Hasselblad/Fujifilm joint ‘X-Pan’ Camera sold between 1998 and 2002. The images below have been shot on FujiFilm GFX medium format cameras.
